The Longest Tennis Match Ever

John Isner, from the USA, was the 23rd seed; Nicolas Mahut was a French qualifier.

Isner eventually won the final set by 70 games to 68. The match ran to 183 games and took 11 hours 5 minutes, over three days. The final set took 8 hours 11 minutes.

Isner served first in the final set, meaning that it was Mahut who always needed to hold his serve to stay in the match.

John Isner lost in straight sets in the second round, to the unseeded Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands – 6–0, 6–3, 6–2.
